Degas was one of my Mother-in-laws favorite painters. I had her in mind when I painted this.
Seether just redid the song “Careless Whisper” and I was thinking about the lyrics, “I'm
never gonna dance again, These guilty feet have got no rhythm”. I have always associated that song with suicide, because
when I was a child a family friend had a sister that killed her self and he loved that song so much because it expressed the
way he felt about losing her. Just recent the lead singer of Seether lost his brother to suicide. So with that thought in
mind, I wanted the painting to bring joy to someone that has suffered a loss of a loved one. I wanted it to be a reminder
that life can be joyous once again. I prayed about it and asked God to help my tie these thoughts all together, and then I
came across the scripture Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded
me with gladness; Psalm 30:11
